Cosmetic Dental Veneers – Glasgow West End
Here at Devonshire Dental Care in Glasgow we can offer several different types of cosmetic dental veneer options.
Cosmetic dental porcelain veneers
Cosmetic dental porcelain veneers are thin layers of porcelain which have a beautiful toothlike appearance and which are cemented on the front of your teeth. These can give a stunning result and can be used to restore broken, fractured, discoloured or darkened front teeth. Cosmetic dental veneers can also be used to align teeth in cases where they are mildly crowded or spaced.
For teeth that are very poorly aligned, it may be necessary to remove a little tooth substance prior to fitting the cosmetic veneers. On the other hand, if the teeth are perfectly aligned then it is often possible to get a fantastic cosmetic dental result with cosmetic dental veneers without removing any tooth substance at all.
We are certified to provide non-preparation Lumineers from the DenMat laboratory in America. We can also offer non-preparation veneers similar to these which are manufactured more locally in the UK.
We can also offer digitally designed dental composite veneers. These may not have quite as natural a finish as porcelain veneers but they will still always give a beautiful result and at a lesser cost. To learn more about cosmetic composite resin bonded dental veneers in Glasgow please see our Smilefast page. Smilefast is a new technology which uses digital scanners to make a 3-D image of how the composite veneer result will appear.
For more information on our various types of cosmetic dental veneers please see our treatment pages which explain many types of veneers including Emax veneers, Lumineers, Smile Design Veneers and ART Veneers.

If you call 01413393123 we can arrange a free consultation during which our dentists will explain the pros and cons of each treatment option allowing you to make an informed decision on the best way to get the result you want. Alternatively see our virtual consultations page for information on how to take photographs which you can send us in the first instance. We can then contact you to discuss some of appropriate treatment options for you.
Each patient is different and the length of time required to fit your veneer will depend on your personal circumstances. Normally, we would fit a veneer in around two appointments although this can take longer if you are having more than one fitted.
First visit:
At your initial visit, your tooth (or teeth) will be prepared. We will need to remove a tiny amount of enamel in order to create space for the veneer to fit on the top of the tooth. This will ensure it sits flush with the existing teeth blending in and feeling just the same as the others. When your tooth is ready, we will take an impression of it so that your veneer can be custom made for you. It will be carefully colour matched to your other teeth.
Second Visit:
Your brand new veneer will be checked for fit. Once you are happy, it will be attached to the front surface of your teeth with a dental adhesive. It may be necessary for you to attend a follow up visit around a week afterwards to check you are happy and that it has indeed stuck securely.
Looking after your veneers
As it is made from a strong and durable material your veneer should last for many years. It’s important to take care of it- be aware of foods and other habits that could potentially damage it. A veneer can be easily chipped or broken by eating very hard foods or chewing fingernails and pens. If it starts to feel loose at any time please contact us straight away.
Smile Design Veneers – Glasgow
These are bespoke veneers which are made with minimal preparation to the teeth. We use our 3D scanner to take a scan of the teeth which is emailed to the dental laboratory. The ceramist then designs the veneers and makes a mould of them which the dentist uses to try on your teeth in acrylic form. You can wear these temporaries for a period before returning to discuss any changes you would like made. An additional benefit of the template is that it will be used to show the dentist where minimal amounts of enamel need removed to get the optimal result. This significantly reduces the drilling required and so is less destructive than the traditional method of veneer preparation. After you are happy we proceed to having the final porcelain veneers made which are then fitted permanently by the dentist.
